Content marketing works.
In fact, so long as the material you produce is genuinely useful, it can work extremely well. However, you need to know what works today because the marketing landscape can change very quickly. You may or may not be familiar with the phrase Content Marketing, yet you visit content marketing sites every day. Whether you visit news sites, entertainment sites or informational sites that offer you free business advice. You are visiting a site that uses content to market itself. Content Marketing can be used successfully to market any type of business. It is an unbeatable method when it comes to attracting any new clients, sales leads and subscribers.
So how does Content Marketing actually work?
You create a website, blog, vlog, newsletter or podcast, etc. You use it to provide FREE information that has real value to your prospective clients, whilst offering them the opportunity to purchase goods, services (or both), which are closely linked to the information you give away. For example, we can provide you with some marketing tips along with other regular, valuable and free marketing advice. People can read the information, use the ideas themselves and share what they find to all of their friends. Maybe, some of those people will see the quality of our information and decide to hire us, as and when they may need expert marketing help and support.
We’ve spoken to some small business owners.
We’ve spoken in the past about Content Marketing and small business owners have always asked the same type of question. “Why give away so much knowledge and advice for free?”
We always answer by explaining that there are 3 different types of people, who will read your Content Marketing.
1). The first type of people is quite small and what we may call the serial freebie hunters. These types of people will never ever pay for professional help. These people were never your prospective clients and would not cross your palm with silver anyway, so you don’t really lose anything.
2). The second type of people is probably the largest. These people will try and do something for themselves. They may hire professional help if they are struggling and not getting the results that they need. They value your genuine expertise and some may even hire you.
3). The third type of people is probably the smallest. These are the rare people that can understand the hiring of an expert will work out a lot less expensive in the long run. They also know that the work will be completed correctly and on time. The results will be a great deal better and will be done quicker than attempting to do such things.
They can understand the true value of hiring an expert. If you can demonstrate through your Content Marketing that you truly are an expert in your field, they will hire you. They already know all about you, your work and they already trust you.
Ensure that you ignore anyone, who tells you that ANY content will do or that you can AUTOMATE the process. This truly is NOT the case. If the content someone produces is not useful to anyone, it won’t do anything other than make them look bad and as we said earlier the marketing landscape can change very quickly.
